The Hardest Goodbye

I packed my heart in pieces,

left the ones you broke behind.

Told myself it’s time to leave

what never truly stayed mine.

I walked away in silence—

no last word, no final plea.

You didn’t beg me not to go,

and maybe that set me free.

But freedom feels like mourning

when love still lingers deep.

I miss the way you held my hand

in dreams I try not to keep.

They say moving on means healing,

but all I feel is numb.

Like I’m dancing through the ruins

of what we should’ve become.

Your ghost still sleeps beside me,

your laugh still haunts my air,

and every song still hurts the same—

because you’re not really there.

I’ll learn to smile without you,

to laugh and love again—

but I’ll always have a quiet ache

for the “us” that could’ve been.🖤🌻
